SAYING THE UNSAYABLE

In analytic therapy your job is to put your thoughts and feelings into words, no matter how wild, sexual, destructive, or mundane.

A psychoanalytic motto is, "just say everything."

In saying it all, you'll get some heavy emotions off your chest, and your conscious will befriend your unconscious. It's what you want. It'll make you calmer inside, and more driven.

You'll feel and behave better, and become more successful. Your confidence will increase. You'll be less impulsive. You'll see things once hidden. The world around you will make more sense.

I think of psychoanalysis as more art than science, but there are aspects of analytic psychotherapy that are repeatable enough to be observed scientifically.
